We value each individual, and believe in the importance of providing individual attention for each student. Individual accommodations are provided to students both through informal adjustments within each class and through a formal process guided by the school administration. Students with individual education plans are taught to advocate for themselves within each class to get the flexibility they need to be successful.

We are a "school attuned." Most of our core staff has earned their certification from Schools Attuned, an intensive professional development program designed by the All Kinds of Minds Institute at the University of North Carolina. The idea here is that brain functioning is best described by a set of eight different neuro-developmental constructs that include sequential ordering, social cognition, and memory among others. With this framework, we recognize that all students have a unique spectrum of strengths and deficits that shape their learning. Our job as educators is to help students leverage their strengths and build their cognitive abilities where they have deficits. This is the approach for all students including the gifted and talented and those with diagnosed learning disabilities.

We're not special education specialists. We don't have a self-paced program. And there's one track: college prep. But we are compassionate, skilled teachers who can provide a surprising level of flexibility within our school program - we've helped any number of kids with ADD make it through Latin I! The personalized, interactive, and creative environment we have built is sometimes just what students need to engage with school in a way they never have before, build study skills and coping mechanisms, and discover that they can be successful in school.
