Description: Advanced Fashion Design students will build on their previous sewing experience to become confident and proficient in essential garment sewing techniques. This class will provide an in-depth study of techniques including linings, facings, interfacings, zippers, bindings, darts, special seaming, gathering, pleating, hemming and clean finishing. Students will also explore basic pattern drafting techniques to design and sew their own original garment. Use of experimental methods and non-traditional materials for garment making will also be encouraged throughout the semester. Prerequisite: Students must know how to confidently operate a sewing machine.
