Sustainable Style: Beginner Sewing for All Bodies and Genders

Description: In this course you’ll learn to sew using a machine, read patterns, and make a simple garment. Along with these practical skills, we will explore historical, cultural and social connections between garment making, environmental impact, and social justice in the Slow Fashion movement. Students who have their own machine may bring it and keep it in the classroom during the semester. Students who do not have a machine are welcome to enroll in the class and use of one the school sewing machines. This class is a pre-requisite for Advanced Fashion, which will be offered in the spring semester.
