Student Leadership
Building a Community Together
The robust community we foster does not just happen. We have a unique governance structure that gets students and teachers working together to manage and develop the life of the community. This fosters a sense of student ownership of the school that is pretty wonderful.
Leadership and Governance Committees
Include:
- Student Council
- Admissions Committee
- Responsibility Committee
- Activity Committee
- Athletics Council
- Diversity and Equity Council
- National Honor Society
- QuILTBAG (our LGBTQIA+ Club)
- Peer Mentors
Consensus-Based
Decision-Making
All committees work on a consensus-based decision-making process which puts students and staff on equal ground. Through all of these opportunities, we develop collaboration, mutual respect, civic responsibility, and leadership. The student voice at Griffin is STRONG!
Clubs
There are soooo many clubs. All it takes is a few motivated, organized students and a sponsoring teacher, and we have a thing. A few beautiful, engaging, active examples of kids who get together and do their thing throughout the year:
- Chess Club
- D&D Club
- Makers Club
- Chinese Club
- Ghost Hunting Club (yes, that’s right)
- Magic the Gathering Club
- Current Events Club
- Latin Club
- Explorers Club
- What club will you start??
