Core Curriculum
The core curriculum at Griffin School includes a broad foundation in English language and literature, world language, history, mathematics, and science.
Students take a minimum of four credits of English, history, mathematics, and science, and two years of a consecutive world language. We offer more for students who want more! All students have one study hall in their schedule which offers a time to tackle homework during the school day. We also offer a broad array of creative classes, including courses in music, visual and performing arts, computer science, fashion, photography, digital art, filmmaking, and creative writing. Those courses happen in the elective and workshop blocks.
Advanced Placement (AP)
AP classes are offered across the curriculum, primarily in junior and senior level classes. These challenging courses provide college-level content and rigor and enable students to earn college credit while still in high school. Underclassmen can take honors coursework in preparation for AP classes and for a GPA bump. It’s important to note that our on-level courses are excellent, creative, and engaging and prepare students for college. We don’t offer “blow-off” classes. Physical Education & Service Learning
To round out our students’ educational experience, we require physical education and service learning throughout their time at Griffin School. We also provide a series of Skills workshop classes that help students understand their own neuro-developmental profile and learn skills in organization and time management, health and wellness, group dialogue, standardized test-taking, college preparation, and life skills.
Seniors at Griffin School have the option to complete a Senior Honors Project. With the support of an advisor, they spend the year researching a particular topic of interest and share their findings in the form of both a written component and an oral presentation before the student body.
