Visual and Media Arts
Elective courses meet twice per week for a full semester, and are in-depth explorations of a range of core topics in the arts. They are taught by working artists and musicians in the community who are professionals in their field.
We offer a variety of options each semester and encourage students to choose different subjects throughout their time at Griffin to broaden their base of knowledge. Specific courses vary from semester to semester, but have included topics such as: 2D and 3D Design, Pro-Create, Game Design, Architecture, Photography, Creative Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, Film, Stitch Circle, and Printmaking.
We also offer Wednesday Workshops, which meet once per week over the course of a semester and focus on a specific sub-set of the arts. Recent workshops have included Fashion & Clothing Modification, Mold Making, Character Design, The Art of Bookmaking, Musical Theatre, Yearbook and New Media Journalism, Poetry-in-Motion, Social & Emotional Learning, and Songwriting.
Each semester ends with a gallery showing of visual art, live music performances, readings, and interactive demos! Check our events page and join us for the next arts showcase!
Extra-curricular offerings include Art Lab, AP Studio Art, Advanced Composition & Music Theory, Theatre Production, and private music lessons.
