Remembering our Founder, Pam Arthur

Dear Griffin School Community,

I am sorry to share the sad news that Griffin School founder Pam Arthur passed away on Wednesday night last week. Within our group of founders, Pam was the driving force behind the school's beginning. And wow was Pam a force; she was a remarkable force for good in the world. Truly, she was the spark that made Griffin School a reality. Full of verve, energy, and optimism, Pam was focused on the opportunities ahead, the potential in each of us; she helped us see our own potential and feel the courage to aspire to big things. She willed our new school into being and inspired and mentored her students and colleagues along the way.

Griffin School students of our earliest years - 1996-1999 - will remember Pam's vibrant energy and vigorous leadership. For those who came later, you may not know Pam or recognize her impact on the Griffin School community, but trust me - we would not be here without her.

One of the most wonderful parts of our 30th anniversary celebrations this year was the chance to reconnect with Pam and to hear her tell the story of the founding of Griffin School from her perspective. I encourage you to take a few minutes to listen to Pam's speech at our anniversary reception in March - it's delightful, and you will feel the energy, positivity, and possibility she embodied in her life.

I'm so grateful I had the chance to know Pam and to be in partnership with her to start Griffin School 30 years ago. Our work today is her legacy that continues to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of students and families. We love and honor Pam and hold her, her family, and all the Griffin kids she mentored in The Light.
